As "Sardanapalos" we characterize people who are fragile, prodigal, wasteful, unstable.
He lived in 685 - 627 BC and he was the last king of Assyria. Sardanapalos choose the heroic exit! He predicted his end and was burned alive...

In order not to fall into the hands of his enemies, Sardanapalos made a huge funeral fire for himself, where he threw "all his gold, silver and royal clothes". He set the eunuchs and their mistresses on fire and they were burned to death.
